Bhutan was always an enclosed country with big powerful neighbors of China and India. Bhutan opened its borders and doors for tourism only in the early 1980s
Bhutan, although a tiny, little nation, of just 0.7 million people of which, 70% are agrarian, and more than 70% of Bhutan’s land is still covered in forests, thus Bhutan is the ultimate paradise on Earth, with so much natural beauty still intact and un explored.Even we Bhutanese people have not fully explored Bhutan of its abundant natural beauty.
Tourism In Bhutan:
Tourism in Bhutan is very different and unique from how tourism is run in other countries of the World.
In Bhutan, we have a very strong Tourism Policy of “Low Volume, Low Impact”. This policy was framed so that we do not have too many tourist inflows into our small Kingdom where Bhutan will not be able to cope with the consequences and evils of over flow of tourists and the degradation of our natural resources by over utilization and exploitation. Bhutan does not want Invasion of outsiders leading to the destruction or dilution of Bhutan’s age old and still living traditions and culture which are still a part of our present daily lives.
Thus, in order to maintain a manageable number of tourists, and be able to give them the best services, yet without exploiting our Natural resources, Bhutan has a Tourist Policy of the following Guidelines and Regulations:
- All Tourists can travel to Bhutan ONLY through one of the Licensed Bhutan Travel Agents
- All Tourists have to pay the Minimum Daily Tour Tariffs of USD 250 per person
- All Tours and Treks in Bhutan have to be assisted by a Bhutanese Licensed Guide
- All Tourists have to follow a certain code of conduct for visit to Cultural and Religious Sites
- Bhutan Travel Visa is issued ONLY through a Licensed Bhutan Travel Agent.

Our Bhutan Tour Operator Credentials
Bhutan is an amazing country and so nice people. The hike to Tiger’s Nest was the best thing. Architecture is also very nice in Bhutan. Best guide we have ever had anywhere. He really made our trip. Hotel were splendid. When I asked, we got more authentic Bhutanese food. The trip was a very good experience.
Glimpse of Bhutan
Amazing! An amazing spiritual experience – please do not change. The service from your guide and driver far exceeded our expectations. All our needs were met and to a very high standard. We were made to feel welcomed, safe and treated with great respect. We have made fantastic friends. A big thank you to your company and your staff.
We did the Jomolhari trip – it was very strenuous for middle aged Europeans who were not used to the altitude and perhaps the details we received of the trek did not adequately emphasize the severity of the walk. But – the view from the pass was worth all the effort. The cooks and pony boys were efficient and helpful- always smiling.
